The employer is obliged to keep these working time records for 5 years (Art. 73 para. 2 ArGV 1). In addition, every employee must be able to see when they worked, took their breaks and finished work. This information can be used to check whether the working and rest time regulations of the Labor Act have been complied with.

There are several options for digital time recording. Either via a terminal, where employees can record their working time with a badge or fingerprint. Another option is time recording via a smartphone app. This allows employees to conveniently record their time while on the move. A third option is the web solution, where employees can log in via a browser and record their time, absences and projects. The advantage of the web solution and the app is that they are location-independent and available at any time, even when working from home.
